Clearly Ridley Scott is setting a trend. Following the news that his Prometheus sequel is now Alien: Covenant, Universal has announced that Snow White And The Huntsman’s prequel will be called The Huntsman: Winter’s War, and there are new character posters to prove it.

At the top of the page you can see Chris Hemsworth, who returns as Eric, The Huntsman, along with Jessica Chastain as a warrior named Sara. The story of the film, set years before Snow White ambles up to take on Charlize Theron’s evil Ravenna, kicks off when Ravenna’s sister Freya (Emily Blunt) flees the kingdom after suffering a heart-breaking betrayal. The young ice queen, blessed with the ability to freeze any enemy, has spent decades in a remote, snowy palace, where she sang a song about embracing her pow… Sorry, that’s someone else. She’s actually been busy raising a legion of deadly huntsmen including Eric and Sara, her top warriors. But despite her demand that her soldiers forswear love, the prime pair have been unable to deny their feelings. Angered, she returns to the kingdom (we can assume the film becomes a sequel at this point, given where the plot goes from here), raises her sister from the Magic Mirror’s golden depths and together the sisters threaten the world with twice the dark magic. The only two who can save us all? You guessed it: Eric and Sara, with, we’d speculate, some help from friends.

The movie, directed this time by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, will arrive as previously announced, on April 22 and features the likes of Sam Claflin, Sheridan Smith, Nick Frost, Colin Morgan, Sam Hazeldine and Sophie Cookson in its cast.
