We’ve had the seemingly endless run of fashion posters and a variety of stills, but now here comes the first of the proper Hunger Games: Catching Fire promos: the initial teaser trailer. Debuting Sunday evening during the MTV Movie Awards, the footage helpfully arrived over at the film’s official site in YouTube format and can be seen below.

But the burning embers of revolution among the poorer folk of the outlying areas are beginning to pose a threat to the ruthless President Snow (Donald Sutherland) so he and his new Games master, Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman), decide to not only make an example of Katniss and Peeta, but also crush a group of other past winners. What we can glean from this proper first glimpse of Catching Fire is that director Francis Lawrence is sticking close to the look of the first movie, while tweaking a few visuals and ramping everything up as the stakes get even higher. Especially for poor old Gale (Liam Hemsworth).
With Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Sam Claflin, Lenny Kravitz, Stanley Tucci, Jenna Malone and Toby Jones also in the cast, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire arrives in UK cinemas on November 22.
