It’s reunions all over the place for new drama Lion. Dev Patel and Hugh Jackman will be sharing the screen once again after recently working together on Neill Blomkamp’s Chappie and it’ll mark the first time Jackman and Nicole Kidman have paired up for a film since **Australia{
These are early days for the project, which has yet to secure a director, but it's based on a real-life story chronicled in a Vanity Fair article. Patel will be a street kid from Calcutta who finds a new home with an Australian couple, played by Jackman and Kidman. Quite how the lion element fits in remains a mystery for now.
The Weinstein Company is hoping for big things from this one, sending the script out to potential buyers in advance of this year’s American Film Market, looking to lock down some hefty deals with distributors. The cast should certainly help that.
As mentioned, Patel and Jackman are part of the cast for Chappie, while Patel will also be seen in The Second Best Marigold Hotel, period drama **The Man Who Knew Infinity **and Soviet-era thriller Child 44. Jackman will next be Blackbeard in Joe Wright’s Pan while Kidman will get her villain on in Paddington, which wanders to our cinemas on November 28.
