Though The Wolverine may not have been the perfect outing for Hugh Jackman’s Logan, it was certainly a jump in quality from X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It would seem that Team Wolverine – specifically Jackman, producer Lauren Shuler Donner and director James Mangold – are looking to give it another slice of the claws.
Deadline reports that Jackman is already set to return with studio 20th Century Fox kicking off negotiations for Mangold to write at least the treatment for the new film with an eye to directing it if the script meets everyone’s approval. Given the healthy international box office for the last film and the clearly solid working relationship between the star and his director, we’d imagine Mangold might end up calling the shots once again.
As for the plot? It’s far to early at this point to say what Logan might be up to this time, and whether it’ll follow on from his experiences in** X-Men: Days Of Future Past** or leap to another adventure from the long-lived mutant’s history.
So what do you want the duo to tackle next? A classic Wolverine tale adapted and given a movie-fied spin, or possibly even something completely new? Sound off in the comments and on The Twitters. Logan will be back on our screens indulging in some Quantum Leap-style time travel to help save the future in Days Of Future Past, which is out on May 22.
