After proving himself to be a major rising star in 2005, Hustle & Flow thesp, and now Oscar nominee, Terrence Howard has lined up a busy 2006.

He’s in final negotiations to star in PDR for Lionsgate Films. The title refers to the Philadelphia Department of Recreation, and is the true-life story of Jim Ellis, who in the 1970s transformed a bunch of troubled inner-city kids onto one of America’s best young swim teams.

And he’s already signed for the ensemble drama August Rush, about a young, talented musician (Freddie Highmore) searching for his biological parents (Jonathan Rhys Myers and Keri Russell). Howard will play a social worker who helps the family come back together.
