Now that The Last Duel is out, it's not enough for Ridley Scott to have one film out this year; yet alone one film starring Adam Driver. Nope, he has two – and the second, House Of Gucci, which also stars Lady Gaga, has just put its latest trailer online.
Coming across a little like a big screen Succession, albeit one with lashings of camp the likes of which even the Roys would avoid, Gucci has Roberto Bentivegna adapting Sara Gay Forden’s book The House Of Gucci: A Sensational Story Of Murder, Madness, Glamour And Greed for Scott. It takes place around the 1995 murder of Maurizio Gucci (Driver), the grandson of founder Guccio Gucci, who ran the famed fashion house in the 1980s.
Gaga is starring as Maurizio’s ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani, who was caught up in his murder. Reggiani was tried and convicted of orchestrating her ex-husband’s assassination on the steps of his office in Italy in 1995. She gained the nickname the Black Widow during the trial and served 18 years before being released from prison in 2016.
With Jared Leto, Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, Jack Huston and Reeve Carney all present and in a variety of '80s and '90s fashions, the film lands in the UK on 26 November.
