Hong-Kong Director Hits Hollywood

Hong-Kong director Peter Chan is developing an English-language remake of his hit comedy He's a Woman, She's a Man. Hailed as one of the most promising directors to arrive in Hollywood, Chan's is a project to watch. Fresh from DreamWorks' romantic comedy The Love Letter, set for release May 21, He's A Woman, She's A Man - set up at New Line Cinema - is described as a sexual identity comedy. At present, there is no screenwriter attached. Chan has already directed five Chinese-language films, distributed throughout the booming Asian market. The original version of He's a Woman is one of the highest-grossing local pictures ever in Hong Kong. If plans go as intended, the remake could roll as Chan's second US picture.
