Academy big cheeses, move over. The public have spoken. At the Hollywood Film Festival last night, the critics' personal opinions were ignored, Oscar hype disregarded and received opinion ignored while the real favourites of the cinema-going masses in America were revealed. Voted entirely by the public via the internet and in US video stores, The Hollywood Film Awards confirmed some familiar faces' hold over audiences' affections. Steven Spielberg's masterly Minority Report beat Monsoon Wedding, Y Tu Mama Tambien and Road to Perdition to win the Hollywood Movie of the Year Award while double Oscar-winner Tom Hanks picked up yet another award as the Hollywood Actor of the Year Award for his hitman in Road to Perdition. In a ceremony fairly busting at the seams with celebrities, Jennifer Aniston cemented her status as sitcom star made big by walking off with the Actress of the Year award for her work in The Good Girl, while Jodie Foster was honoured with the Outstanding Achievement in Acting award.
