Sam Mendes is to produce a movie based on ITV's regency time-travel drama Lost in Austen. The series followed modern girl Amanda, who swaps places with Pride and Prejudice heroine Elizabeth Bennet.
The movie is being developed by Mammoth Screen, producers of the TV series, along with Mendes' Neal Street Productions with a script from orignial writer Guy Andrews. Mendes will not be directing, but the Oscar winner** **is sure to bring gravitas to the surprising adaptation.
The series, starring Jemima Rooper and Alex Kingston, was a massive success for ITV and, should a high-profile cast come together, this could translate similarly to the big screen. Recent forays into the world of Austen have been very profitable including Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightley and Becoming Jane, starring Anne Hathaway as the authoress.
Casting has yet to begin for this project, but answers on a postcard as to who you think should play the Austen obsessed Amanda.
