Though Zack Snyder still hasn’t zeroed in on a name for his Man Of Steel** follow-up (or if he has, he’s not telling us yet), he has at least chosen some new actors for the film. According to Variety, Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey and Tao Okamoto are all aboard.
In true Superman/Batman (or is it Batman Vs. Superman or even All-Star Superhero Variety Hour Fun Time Go?) style, the roles that the newcomers are playing are being kept quiet for now until an official announcement is made. Or, more likely, “sources close to the production” leak the information online.
What we do know is that they’re apparently new characters created for the movie. The trio joins announced stars Henry Cavill (Clark Kent/Superman), Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) and Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth). Diane Lane is also expected to return as Clark’s adoptive mother Martha.
Hunter needs little introduction: she’ll next be seen opposite Al Pacino in David Gordon Green’s Manglehorn and in one of Terrence Malick’s untitled upcoming movies. Mulvey clearly caught Snyder’s eye with his work in 300: Rise Of An Empire, while Okamoto has superhero grounding making her debut as Mariko in The Wolverine last year.
With production underway in Michigan, Snyder is set to deliver his latest effort to our screens on April 29 next year before it heads to the US on May 6.
