"We're being naughty and very dirty and very ugly," said Rutger Hauer a few months ago. But nobody said that bad guys never win, and this morning's happy news is that the grindhouse lunacy that is Hobo With a Shotgun** has been picked up for distribution by Magnet, and will premiere at Sundance next month. C'mon, it was a no-brainer. Surely everyone wants to see this!

If you're new here, Ruttie stars as the titular tramp who decides he's mad as hell and not going to take it anymore, and the film was written and directed by newbie Jason Eisener. It was set up after its fake trailer won a Tarantino & Rodriguez-sponsored grindhouse competition, and shot in Nova Scotia earlier this year.

Magnet executive Tom Quinn explained himself by saying, "Both Jason Eisener and Rutger Hauer were born to make Hobo,", and described the film as "pure blood-drunk batshit crazy fun." Eisener himself responded to the news with "May God have mercy on Magnet."

The trailer's been up for a couple of months, but we urge you to check it out if you've not caught it yet. Very much not safe for work, but you're snowed in at home, right?

We're promised Hobo With a Shotgun, in some form or other, next year. Roy Batty, John Ryder, Hobo. Most actors are lucky to find one iconic role in their career.
