When Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw arrives this summer, we’re going to see a whole different side of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s Agent Luke Hobbs. Notably, the man on home turf, fighting alongside his family in a super-sized Samoan smackdown – the Fast franchise’s first full-on battle sequence. It’s going to be one of the set-pieces of the summer – and we’ve got an early peek courtesy of an exclusive image, as seen in the new issue of Empire.
With fellow wrestler Roman Reigns signed up to play Hobbs’ brother (he and Johnson are actually cousins in real life), director David Leitch – previously behind John Wick, Atomic Blonde, and Deadpool 2 – promises an epic reunion for WWE obsessives. “Jason [Statham] using the sledgehammer is particularly fun,” teases Leitch of the brawl, “but I have to say, Roman Reigns and Dwayne teaming up as sort of a tag team against a couple of mercenaries is pretty awesome. It’s going to be a huge treat for wrestling fans.”
