Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard Drops Explosive New Trailer

Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard

You know the hitman. You've met the bodyguard. Four years later they're back, and this time Ryan Reynolds' bodyguard Michael Bryce has to swoop in and save his friend/client/assassin Darius' (Samuel L. Jackson) wife, Sonia (Salma Hayek). What could possibly go wrong? If the new explosive trailer is anything to go off, a lot: it doesn't seem like a life without bodyguarding is going to be an option anytime soon.

We first reunite with Michael on sabbatical, and something of a wellness kick – motivational book in hand, sunnies on, ready to take a deep breath in and let his violent past go. But of course, things don't go to plan: Sonia turns up and needs his help, and so a whole host of explosions and disasters ensue. Naturally, it's set to an endless remix of Britney Spears' 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' – let's hope loneliness doesn't literally kill anyone here.

Reynolds, Hayek and Jackson will be squaring up against Antonio Banderas as the bad guy – but also you can count the concept of a hitman's wife's baby as something worth being scared about here. Again, those Spears lyrics have never been understood quite so literally.

Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (which just dropped the "The" for reasons never explained) will be blasting into cinemas – that's right, the real deal – on 16 June. Just enough time to finish our own sabbaticals before reporting for duty at the pictures.
