With the 2018 Cannes film festival kicking off this week, the Croisette and other areas are plastered with posters advertising films – many of them yet to be made – that will either blossom into actuality or wither into the darkness, never to be produced, let alone seen. One with a solid path to the screen is a sequel to The Hitman's Bodyguard.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, which aims to reunite the team behind and in front of the camera from 2017's action comedy hit, has both posters and an entry in the Cannes market catalogue as "The Good. The Bad. And The Batshit cray." Which sounds about right.

Though no official deals have been signed, Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson should be back as the leads, and the title leads us to speculate that Salma Hayek will also return. Patrick Hughes is believed to once again be directing, while writer Tom O'Connor is busy crafting the new movie.

Despite a wealth of negative reviews, the first film took in more than $176 million at the global box office from a production budget of around $30 million, so naturally Millennium Films wants the follow-up to happen.
