"Time sure does fly, doesn't it?" So says Tom Hanks' Richard to Robin Wright's Margaret in the first trailer for Robert Zemeckis' centuries-spanning, AI-assisted epic Here. 30 years after working with Hanks and Wright on another timey-wimey yarn, a little indie film you may have heard of called Forrest Gump, Zemeckis has brought the band back together to tell a generational tale of multiple families' lives, all from within one living space. Check out the first trailer for Here, er, here;

From the dawn of the dinosaurs to the turn of this millennium, Zemeckis' latest — co-written alongside Eric Roth and based on Richard McGuire's same-named graphic novel — looks to be the definition of sweeping melodrama, even within its quirky one-room, one-camera set-up. In this first look alone, we see Hanks and Wright — first deaged via AI, later made old by prosthesis — journeying through time together, experiencing the early buds of love blossoming and reflecting on the life they've built. In between, there's meteor strikes, regency drama, appearances from Paul Bettany, Kelly Reilly and Michelle Dockery, and lots of people just being — and it's that word again — here. So a lot going on!

Despite the awkward uncanny valleyness of an AI deaged Hanks and Wright, this looks well within Zemeckis' heartstring pulling wheelhouse. And, if it's even half as impactful as McGuire's groundbreaking graphic novel then we're in for a real treat. Here hits cinemas stateside on 15 November, and we'll bring you news on a UK release date just as soon as we get it.
