Henry Cavill is not perhaps the first name you'd think of when casting Sherlock Holmes. But he'll do exactly that, becoming approximately the 753rd person to portray Arthur Conan Doyle's legendary detective for Enola Holmes.
Millie Bobby Brown will star in the film, which features a script by Jack Thorne adapting Nancy Springer's book series. Launching in 2006 with The Case Of The Missing Marquess, Springer's tomes tell the tale of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes' much younger sister, Enola, who turns out to be a highly capable detective in her own right.
Helena Bonham Carter's aboard to play Enola's mother, while Fleabag and Killing Eve veteran Harry Bradbeer is in the director's chair. Legendary's providing the backing, while Brown will also serve a producer alongside her sister, Paige.
Cavill, last seen in Mission: Impossible – Fallout, has Night Hunter (formerly known as Nomis) due out on 13 September and has been working on Netflix's adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's novel The Witcher, which also spawned the fantasy-hunting video game series.
