Henry Cavill might not have had much of a chance to crack wise and fool around in his Superman movies, but he’s often pretty funny on social media. Remember when the time finally came to shave off his beloved Mission: Impossible – Fallout moustache? Following reports that he’s leaving the DCEU and hanging up his Kryptonian garb for good, Cavill has responded on Instagram – and it’s not exactly a confirmation or a denial. In fact, who knows exactly what this is.

In a short video, captioned “Today was exciting #Superman”, Cavill wears a ‘Krypton Lifting Team’ t-shirt, looking directly into the camera as a version of the Blue Danube waltz plays – a version which features barking dogs. Then Cavill slowly lifts up a Superman action figure. And… that’s it. We’ll leave it entirely up to your interpretation.

As for Warner Bros, they’ve released a statement that doesn’t confirm that Cavill is leaving, but also doesn’t make it sound like they have any immediate plans for his return as Superman. “While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged,” the statement says. Cavill’s reaction was certainly the funnier – and weirder – response.

According to The Hollywood Reporter{=nofollow}, Cavill’s Superman won’t be cameoing in Shazam! despite initial plans for him to appear – and Warner Bros is said to be forging ahead with a Supergirl solo film instead of returning immediately to Kal-El.
