Some people just can’t wait for their career to develop by itself. So they take the next leap themselves. Jon Heder has decided that being known as “that guy who played Napoleon Dynamite” is not a label that he wishes to haunt him for the rest of his career. Bad news, Jon: you may have to live with it.
Still, he’s having a crack at breaking away with a new comedy pitch. Writer-director Chris Borman has set up his script Loudermilk at Universal via Heder’s production company, Greasy Entertainment.
There’s no word on what the screenplay is about – beyond the term “high concept comedy” and our research drones could find only the unlikely subject matter of obscure ‘60s singer John D Loudermilk (singer of such “hits” as The Pig Latin Song and Stayin’ In) and Elliot Loudermilk, the hapless executive drone played by Bobcat Goldthwaite in Scrooged. We somehow think neither of these will turn out to be the focus of Bowman’s comedy, but if we are right, we reserve the right to do a victory dance.
