Hear The Oblivion Soundtrack

Director Joseph Kosinski scored no lesser talents than Daft Punk for his first big film, Tron Legacy. Now, for his follow-up, Oblivion, he’s staying in the electronica world, and has M83 providing the sonic goodness. You can stream the entire Oblivion soundtrack over at Mashable. And the first of four clips from the film, which features Tom Cruise, is below.

Oblivion finds Cruise as Jack Harper, a drone repairman working on a war-ravaged, post-apocalyptic Earth. After years of conflict with a terrifying alien race known as the Scavs, humanity has triumphed, but at a terrible cost to our planet.

Now the majority of the population live in hovering cities above the surface, which is where Jack and his partner Victoria (Andrea Riseborough) want to go when his tour of duty is up.

But during one seemingly routine patrol, a space pod comes crashing down containing the mysterious Julie (Olga Kurylenko). And soon everything that Jack knows has been thrown into question, especially when he meets Malcolm Beech (Morgan Freeman)...

The soundtrack definitely has a similar feel to Tron’s musical landscape (not a shocker given that collaborator Joseph Trapanese worked on both albums. Oblivion’s soundtrack album will be released on April 9, followed by the movie itself on April 10. To read our interview with Kosinski, head here.
