Following on from our previous casting report here, Lena Headey has signed up to play Gerry Butler's missus in Zach Snyder's adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel 300.
Headey will play Gorgo, the Queen of Sparta (imagine the trouble the poor lass had at school with a name like that). Unlike some other Greek ladies we could mention (mentioning no names Helen of Troy) Gorgo has more to do than stand around and look pretty, namely navigate the shark-pit of Hellenic politics while hubby's off playing soldiers.
Best known for her starring roles in Steve Coogan's The Parole Officer and freak-fest The Cave, Headey has been sneaking above the radar of late. When not playing Cherie to Butler's Tony this autumn, Headey will be smiling winsomely in Brit-based rom-com Imagine Me & You and less so alongside Heath Ledger and Matt Damon in The Brothers Grimm.
Also joining Leo's band of merry men are quality thesps David Wenham and Dominic West, **Troy's **Vincent Regan and Love Actually's Rodrigo Santoro.
Shooting begins in Montreal - sorry, Ancient Greece - on October 17.
