Back in July, there was talk that Hailee Steinfeld was under serious consideration (and, indeed, close to a deal) to play Kate Bishop in the Hawkeye-centric MCU/Disney+ series which stars Jeremy Renner. Steinfeld went on to pour cold water on the idea, but it appears she is now confirmed, as set videos posted to the Murphy's Multiverse site show Renner and his co-star shooting the show.

Created by writer Allan Heinberg and artist Jim Cheung, the character is the first woman to adopt the Hawkeye mantle. The daughter of one of New York City's wealthiest families, Kate turns her attention to fighting crime after a life-changing attack in central park, joining the Young Avengers and eventually settling on fellow archer Clint Barton as a mentor. It's entirely possible that the show will find Renner stepping back like some of his fellow legacy MCU actor, with Steinfeld's Bishop taking on the Hawkeye mantle. While Marvel has naturally not commented on the casting, Renner took to Twitter to post a set pic.

The show has Amber Finlayson, Katie Ellwood and Rhys Thomas among the first group of directors, with Mad Men veteran Jonathan Igla running the series' writers' room.
