Rutger Hauer has finally managed to put together his directorial debut.
Changing Fortunes is a biopic of the life of Dutch banker Wally van Hall, who was credited with saving more than 80,000 families during World War II. Presumably he hasn’t received his cinematic due yet because “Wally’s List” just doesn’t have the save ring to it.
Hauer announced that he was making the film to celebrate van Hall, who was betrayed shortly before the war ended. "Basically he was responsible for the biggest bank fraud in European history, which involved $600 million, only to save as many lives as possible," Hauer told Dutch promotional agency Holland Film. "My film will mainly be an 'unsung hero' story about a person who wants to improve the world around him. Everyone should hear about the story of this man."
There’s no cast attached yet.
