Casting director leaves as the search for Harry Potter continues

Susie Figgis, the casting director responsible for finding a Harry Potter for the forthcoming Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone, has left the project after none of the thousands of British boys she's seen have been deemed suitable by American director Chris Columbus. Columbus, whose previous efforts include Home Alone and Home Alone 2, is thought to be looking for the new Macauley Culkin. It's feared that his inability to agree to a British boy for the role might open it up to an American, which is bound to anger fans. Figgis told The Daily Mail, "I feel I have done my absolute best to find a child and during our search we've met some great kids. Ultimately, it's the director's point of view and vision".
