In Bruges writer/director Martin McDonagh is certainly shopping around for some interesting talent to fill the remaining lead slots in his Seven Psychopaths cast: he’s just hired Woody Harrelson, Tom Waits and Olga Kurylenko for the comedy drama.
Psychopaths finds Bruges veteran Colin Farrell as Marty, a scriptwriter struggling with a brain-rotting case of writer’s block. He’s trying to finish the titular screenplay but he’s lacking real inspiration.
He finds it when he gets mixed up in the dognapping antics of pals Billy (Sam Rockwell) and Hans (Christopher Walken). The trouble really starts when a beloved Shih Tzu belonging to a crazy gangster (Harrelson) goes missing. Soon, Marty has all the inspiration he could need. But he might not actually survive the process…
While there's no word on who Waits or Kurylenko will play, McDonagh also has the likes of Ronnie Gene Blevins, Joseph Lyle Taylor and Kiran Deol aboard. And though we’re crossing our fingers for Brendan Gleeson to cameo in a Bruges reunion, nothing has even been hinted about that yet. Mickey Rourke was also said to be in talks, but there’s no confirmation on whether he sealed a deal.
Seven Psychopaths is now in pre-production.
