Though he said after Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice that he was retiring from superhero movie scores, composer Hans Zimmer has found enough inspiration in two incoming examples to head back to the studio for costumed crusaders. His latest? His official site has announced he'll craft the music for Wonder Woman 1984.
Despite Rupert Gregson-Williams taking score chores for the first Wonder Woman, it's still Zimmer who is most closely identified with the main theme for Gal Gadot's Diana Prince, thanks to her introduction in Dawn Of Justice. Having him write the entire score for the sequel is a coup for director Patty Jenkins.
Zimmer has said that he'd break his moratorium on future superhero movies for the right script, and apparently both the Wonder Woman sequel and Simon Kinberg's X-Men: Dark Phoenix have offered something to tempt him back, which means two comicbook-flavoured scores from Zimmer next year.
Wonder Woman 1984, which is still in production, will be out on 15 November 2019. Dark Phoenix will arrive first, landing on 5 February.
