Just when you thought the 25th official Bond movie, No Time To Die had turned a corner via the response to its trailer and put its production issues behind it, here comes Variety to pour a little cold water, hearing that Hans Zimmer is stepping in to create the music for the film.
According to the new reports, previous composer Dan Romer, who had previously worked with Die director Cary Fukunaga, has been let go from the film under the typically nebulous phrase "creative differences".
Zimmer faces a tight time scale to work on the score – he's apparently already underway – and may end up enlisting one of his own regular collaborators to help out. No Time To Die is locked into an April release, which would usually indicate finishing the music by February. And Zimmer also has Wonder Woman 1984, Top Gun: Maverick and Dune on his plate for this year.
Still, it'll be fascinating to see what he does with a Bond movie, and we're also wondering whether he'll knock up a tune to go with the film, Both Skyfall and Spectre scored Oscars for their efforts, so no pressure there, then.
