We’ll say this up front: by now, many other sites and a raft of Twitter types have already revealed the name of the star cameothat will attempt to live up to Mike Tyson’s Phil Collins-singing, fist-slinging role in** The Hangover** for its sequel. But to stave off anyone who A) hasn’t learned who that person is or B) would really like to be surprised when the film (or, more likely, its trailer) arrives, then you might want to click away, because we’re about to discuss it. Spoiler well and truly alerted.

While the film, which is shooting right now, sees the return of the first film’s male leads (Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis and Justin Bartha) alongside comedy standout Ken Jeong, the Thailand-set storyline will also include a brief appearance by Mel Gibson.

Yup, the man currently embroiled in yet another nasty public scandal has apparently been offered a role in the movie and will no doubt hope that trying to make us laugh might help his career rebound. Again.

According to the New York Post’s source, “It's a done deal. Mel will make a cameo as a tattoo artist. Filming is taking place on the Warner Bros. lot, where a Bangkok set has been built, and Mel is expected to film his role in two weeks. Then the production moves to Thailand at the end of October."

So now we know. Or, if you didn’t read the main story, then you don’t know.

The Hangover 2 is scheduled to have its passport stamped over here on May 27 next year.
