Halle Berry Now Buzzed For The Hive

Though it looked for a while that the match-up might not happen, Halle Berry is now confirmed to star in call centre killer thriller** The Hive**, which has Brad Anderson on directing duties.

If you throw your mind into a handy TARDIS and send it spiralling back to October 2011, you might recall that there once was a plan for Berry to star in the film, which Joel Schumacher was considering as his next directing job. He dropped Berry’s name as his first choice to star and mentioned that she was interested.

Then January rolled around and everything appeared to change: The Machinist** director Brad Anderson had taken over the megaphone and Berry was out, citing scheduling issues. But now the start date has been pushed back and the actress has signed on. "I'm thrilled to be working with Halle on this," Anderson tells Variety. "It's a formidable role for an equally formidable actress."

Though it brings to mind a gang of buzzing insects (Schumacher had even said he was going to change the title because it made him feel “itchy”) Rich D’Ovidio’s script actually concerns a 911 call centre worker answering a cry for help from a teenage girl in serious danger from a disturbed killer. To make it even twistier, the stalker is a man who menaced Berry years ago…

Assuming there are no other bumps in the road, Anderson will begin calling the shots this June in Los Angeles. Berry was last seen in New Year’s Eve and will next show up in Cloud Atlas.
