It's a big morning for comedy trailers (although obviously none of them are as ROFL hilarious as this). Next up is the Farrelly Brothers' latest opus Hall Pass, starring Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis.
This one's high concept gives side-parted goofballs Wilson and Sudeikis a free week away from their marriages (they're hitched to, respectively, Christina Applegate and Jenna Fischer, but hey, everyone gets jaded), to do with as they wilt. This, it would seem, involves them not getting laid at all, especially if Sudeikis' chloroform joke is any indication of their pick-up techniques.
It all looks more easygoing than some of the Farrelly's often savage previous efforts, but that doesn't mean there aren't laughs to be had. And it's very reminiscent of Curb Your Enthusiasm's fourth season (which had a running sub-plot about Larry David having a hall pass of his own, and failing to do anything with it), with the presence of JB Smoove (Curb's Leon Black) adding to that connection. Still, if this turns out to be even half as funny as that, it'll be a winner.
Alexandra Daddario, Richard Jenkins, Stephan Merchant (tenaciously sticking to his own accent), Nicky Whelan, Derek Waters, Alyssa Milano, Vanessa Angel and Kristin Carey co-star, and the release date is February 25, after which it'll have a week to prove it's got game.
