Tate Taylor has locked down the main trio of female stars for his next film, the adaptation of Paula Hawkins’ best-seller The Girl On The Train. Completing the initial batch of casting is The Equalizer’s Haley Bennett.
Erin Cressida Wilson adapted the script from Hawkins’ much buzzed-about book, which drew comparisons to Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl for its narrative. We’ll caution that even the basic synopsis might be considered a spoiler, but read on if you wish… The story follows a recently divorced woman called Rachel (Emily Blunt) struggling with her life and sinking into alcoholism to try to cope. She sees a seemingly perfect couple from her London train ride every day and starts to fantasise about their lives. But things take a turn when she sees something shocking happen in the house…
This is shaping up to be something special on the acting front, with Blunt and, more recently, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation**’s Rebecca Ferguson boarding the film. With Bennett signed, Taylor is on to casting the male roles.
Bennett has worked on a variety of recent movies, including Warren Beatty’s untitled latest, one of Terrence Malick’s new films, which is similarly nameless, and** The Magnificent Seven** remake, which reunites her with her Equalizer director Antoine Fuqua. That’s scheduled for release here on September 23, 2016.
