Since her breakout in** True Grit**, Hailee Steinfeld has shown a proven ability to hop between genres including sci-fi (Ender’s Game), Shakespearian drama (Romeo & Juliet) and action thriller (3 Days To Kill). She’ll be showing off a talent for blending a capella with comedy next, we hope, as she’s joined the cast of **Pitch Perfect 2.
With the first film’s producer and co-star Elizabeth Banks sliding into the director’s chair for this one, the plot details of Kay Cannon's sequel script are being kept under a plastic cup for now. But the presence of returning stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow points to the further adventures of Beca, Amy and Chloe, with fresh characters joining their a capella singing group.
Promisingly, Steinfeld is reportedly someone who might continue any potential **Pitch **franchise should Kendrick decide not to return for further instalments down the line. An aca-franchise? We've heard worse ideas.
In addition to her role as Kevin Costner’s daughter in 3 Days To Kill (which makes it over here on 20 June), Steinfeld has a variety of films awaiting release including Tommy Lee Jones’ The Homesman, action thriller Term Life and comedy Barely Lethal.
