Vince Vaughn and producer/director/pal Peter Billingsley are looking to try something different for their next collaboration to follow up the less-than-satisfying Couples Retreat. They’ve plumped for an adaptation of Image Comics title Term Life, and now Hailee Steinfeld is aboard to play Vaughn’s daughter{ =nofollow}.

A.J. Lieberman wrote the adaptation of his and Nick Thornborrow’s graphic novel, which finds a criminal type known for planning heists somehow managing to annoy just about everyone he knows. When his latest plan is botched, his former employers - along with mob bosses, corrupt cops and hit men - all decide to take him out.

Since he wants to finally do something good with his life, our man takes out a big life insurance policy out, payable to his estranged daughter. The trouble is that the policy doesn’t become due for 21 days and it looks like he may not make it that long.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film plays with the timeline, shifting back and forth between Vaughn’s efforts to be a good dad at last and his struggle to survive for three weeks as his enemies surround him.

Meanwhile, True Grit's Steinfeld has a variety of movies coming out in the near future, including Ender’s Game (due October 25), a new** Romeo & Juliet** (October 11) and John Carney’s Can A Song Save Your Life? which got good reviews at Toronto but doesn’t yet have a UK release date.
