With James Gunn in serious prep mode for the third Guardians Of The Galaxy movie, a vital piece of casting for the film has broken. Deadline reports that Will Poulter will play Adam Warlock.

Teased during a post-credit scene at the end of the second Guardians, Warlock in the MCU is revealed as a creation of Elizabeth Debicki's Ayesha, part of her plan to destroy Star-Lord and co. It looks like, then, that Poulter will be causing trouble for our heroes. You can read more about his typically convoluted comic book history here){href='https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Adam_Warlock_(Earth-616)' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer'}, but the character was originally created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Roy Thomas, and first appeared in Fantastic Four #66 in 1967, then known as "Him" and debuted the Warlock in Marvel Premiere #1 in 1972.

Naturally, as his origin already suggests, his story in Vol. 3 will be different. Gunn, in keeping with his promise not to lie to fans when actual information emerges, confirmed the news on his twitter feed.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to kick off shooting next month and will be out in May 2023. Poulter, most recently seen on cinema screens in Midsommar, has Hulu/Disney+ Star's drama Dopesick arriving this week.
