The *Barbie* movie has taken a few twists and turns in its time, with Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway attached to star at different points. Currently, Margot Robbie is in the lead, and the film has a new set of writers, as Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig are tackling the script.
Having the duo behind films such as Frances Ha, Lady Bird and The Squid And The Whale attached seems like an even more unlikely move for a movie based on a popular toy, but then this is Warner Bros. looking to get the thing going at last. According to Deadline, Gerwig is also considering directing.
From the sounds of it, Warners' take on the Barbie concept will be very different from Sony's, if only because of the latest talent working on it.
Gerwig's next film awaiting release is Little Women, landing on 24 January next year, while Baumbach has an untitled new movie arriving this year
