Gremlins 3 In 3D?

Gremlins 3 In 3D?

The rumours about a new Gremlins - whether it's a second sequel to Joe Dante's 1984 original mini-monster mash - or a (shudder) reboot of that film - have been prowling for years, but now, according to MarketSaw (via the fine folks at Cinema Blend), whatever film turns up could also be in 3D.

It's no surprise that, given the recent success of some 3D titles (including the James Cameron-created behemoth still chewing up the competition), just about every movie that could benefit from a little extra dimension would end up getting the treatment.

And leaving aside our thoughts on whether we really want any more Gremlin outings (if Joe Dante himself couldn't make the sequel consistently entertaining, we're not sure anyone else should bother), the idea of the scaly troublemakers causing havoc in 3D does have a warped appeal.

Still, it's very early days - as the MarketSaw story says, it's still bubbling away and there's no one solid attached just yet, in front of or behind the camera.

But while we're on the subject of beloved '80s comedy/horrors and 3D, the same site is also saying that Ghostbusters 3 will turn up in 3D. Anything's possible...
