If you were to crack open the Big Book Of Standard Comedy Film Ideas, the concept of warring neighbours would probably be sitting in there, nestling alongside a hefty list of movies that have utilised the idea. Still, Fox 2000 thinks that Superbad director Greg Mottola and stars Jon Hamm and Zach Galifianakis can bring a little fresh life to the idea in** Keeping Up With The Joneses**.
No writer is listed on the project, which will follow a settled yet bored couple discovering that their new suburban neighbours might be more than they appear on first glimpse. Depending on which trade mag story you read, they could either be spies or criminals. Or both, but we’ll have to wait and see how it pans out. From the sounds of it, Galifianakis could be one half of the regular couple with Hamm as one of the newcomers. Though this being a comedy, those roles may be swapped.
Mottola, who also made Adventureland and Paul, is signed to direct, while the actors are still hammering out their deals. Galifianakis is back on our screens at the end of the month as Hobo Joe in Muppets Most Wanted. He’s also part of Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman. Hamm is shooting James Franco’s **The Sound And The Fury **and has baseball drama Million Dollar Arm set for this year. He’ll also be heard in The Minions Movie, which arrives next year.
