Greg Berlanti Running With The Flash?

This week seemed to be shaping up to belong to Superman, what with the David Goyer news – yes, he is apparently writing the script, with regular **Batman **collaborator Jonah Nolan – but another DC/Warners hero, The Flash, might just run in to grab his own headline, with word that the studio has found a director in Greg Berlanti.

You’d be forgiven for asking “Greg who?” but he has a recent history with Warners and superheroes, since he wrote the Green Lantern script with Marc Guggenheim and was even a candidate to direct the film before Martin Campbell agreed to do it.

Now IESB is reporting that the quality of the Lantern script has the studio thinking he might be the man to bring their long-gestating film of The Flash to the screen.

It’s been a long slog for the speedy hero who can defy several of the laws of physics and has been around in DC’s pantheon since 1940, with various characters assuming the red-suited mantle. He’s cropped up in animated adventures and a TV show before, but a big screen incarnation has always eluded him. Maybe this time?

Berlanti’s previous helming experience is limited to comedy drama The Broken Hearts Club, but he’s built up a resume working in US network dramas like Brothers And Sisters,** Eli Stone **and Everwood. For now his links to The Flash are just rumours, but of course we’ll let you know if that changes.
