Just weeks after Oliver Stone announced that he was starting work on an untitled 9/11 project comes the news that Paul Greengrass, director of The Bourne Supremacy is set to direct Flight 93, the story of the plane hijacked on September 11 where the passengers fought back, only for the plane to crash in Pennsylvania. The film will unfold almost in real time, over 90 minutes, as the passengers are taken hostage, and begin to realise what their captors plan for them when they hear about the fate of the World Trade Centre. They then decide to fight back, sacrificing their own lives if necessary to stop the terrorists. The film is likely to be closer in style to the gritty realism of Greengrass' Northern Irish drama Bloody Sunday than the Matt Damon spy movie that established him in Hollywood. Budgeted at a comparatively tiny $15 million, the film will be partly improvised by an ensemble cast, with handheld cameras to make the film feel rough around the edges. We're guessing that this will be treated as an indie release rather than a big blockbuster
