We at Empire Towers are currently rather obsessed with a film called The Greasy Strangler. Telling the sordid tale of Big Ronnie (Michael St. Michaels) and son Big Brayden (Sky Elobar), Jim Hosking’s film follows the duo as they run their Los Angeles-based Disco Walking Tour. However, things get messy when one of the tourists, Janet (Elizabeth De Razzo), comes between the pair. Oh, and then there’s the slight issue of a greased-up madman throttling anyone who rubs him up the wrong way. Check out the new UK poster and trailer below for a taste of what to expect.

A curious mix of Steptoe And Son and Napoleon Dynamite by way of John Waters and 1980s video nasties, The Greasy Strangler has to be seen to be believed. With Ben Wheatley and Elijah Wood onboard as executive producer and producer respectively, the talking point of this year’s Sundance Film Festival finally hits our fair isle in October.

Empire will be hosting a special preview screening and director Q&A at Empire Livehead this way for more details. The new issue of Empire (out today) also houses an in-depth feature from Jim Hosking himself, talking everything from prosthetic penises (of which, be warned, there are many), to getting the darn thing made.

The Greasy Strangler is released in the UK in all its lard-laced glory on 7 October.
