Despite his disgraceful good looks, Chris Evans will need a little help if he’s to woo Michelle Monaghan in A Many Splintered Thing. Fortunately for him, he’ll get some backup from Topher Grace. And that's not all the new arrivals, as Aubrey Plaza, Anthony Mackie, Philip Baker Hall and Giovanni Ribisi are in various stages of negotiation.
Justin Reardon is directing the anti-rom-com from Paul Vicknair and Chris Shaffer’s script. It’ll find a guy disillusioned by love (Evans) sneaking into a charity dinner for mean-spirited fun by pretending to be a philanthropist.
There, he meets a beautiful woman (Monaghan) and is immediately taken with her despite his negative attitude to all things love-related. Trouble is, she’s engaged and her fiancé is a stick-in-the-mud who barely likes her leaving his side.
So, egged on by his friends (including Grace as his best pal), he feigns a platonic relationship with her as he plots to win her heart.
Reardon is scheduled to start the cameras whirring on October 26. Grace was last seen in Richard Gere thriller **The Double **and will next show up in The Big Wedding on November 9.
