If you're one of the few people who saw the excellent indie Lars and the Real Girl then you will know that Craig Gillespie is a director capable of making the weird very charming and that Ryan Gosling is a terrific actor (although you probably knew that already). So it's good news that the pair have decided to collaborate on a new project.
Gillespie will direct Gosling in The Dallas Buyers Club, a film based on the life of Ron Woodroof, a Texas electrician who, in 1986, was diagnosed with AIDS and given six months to live. Unwilling to accept such a death sentence he sought his own alternative medication and began smuggling in alternative medicines to help AIDS patients. This kept him alive for an additional six years.
