The first Goosebumps was more fun than many were expecting, the adaptation of several of RL Stine's family-friendly fright novels proving to be a happy adventure. Sony has been at work on a sequel for a while now, and the young actors to fill out the main ensemble have now been found, with Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle's Madison Iseman leading a list that also includes It's Jeremy Ray Taylor, Caleel Harris and Ben O'Brien.

Little is known at this point about which of Stine's books will be the source fodder for the sequel, but director Ari Sandel is developing the film, with Deadline previously reporting that writers Darren Lemke (who penned the original) and Rob Lieber had been at work on two different versions of the script, one which features Jack Black's take on Stine, and one without. The new film's line-up makes no mention of Black, and there's talk of casting a mother character as one of the other leads, so perhaps we have a clue to how things are going on that front. Either that, or Black will make a deal and still pop up.

Sandel and co. need to get moving on the movie, as it has a 12 October release date in the US and 19 October on the books here. Whether it keeps either is yet to be seen, but we're hopeful it'll live up to the first outing.
