This coming June heralds the return of one of the brightest spots on the UK film calendar – Sundance Film Festival London. And this year's event features a typically packed schedule of movies, shorts, talks and other programmes, with the Emma Thompson-starring Good Luck To You, Leo Grande opening it all.
Alongside the much-praised Grande, the festival will offer 11 other features from this year's Sundance Film Festival, including Brian And Charles, which closes the London arm. Other movies screening will include A Love Song, Fire Of Love, Hatching, Honk For Jesus, Save Your Soul, Sharp Stick, Watcher and Resurrection.
And in addition to that, there will be a full programme of shorts and documentaries, and informative Q&As with filmmakers. Following on from the success of last year's Sundance Film Festival London Tour, this year's edition will again see films showing in cinemas across the UK. Three films, led by Good Luck To You, Leo Grande, will screen at upwards of 30 cinemas across the festival dates of 9-12 June 2022. The additional films will be announced at a later date, while many of the short films will also be in tour, courtesy of two programmes.
The fest will feature an equal number of male and female directors in this year’s film selection (across features and shorts), allowing a range of British, Finnish, French, Australian, Emirati, Indonesian, Canadian, Lebanese and American filmmakers to tell their stories.
"We’re excited to be back in London to present a great selection of work from our Utah Festival programme to the wonderful audiences at Picturehouse Central," says Sundance Film Festival Director Tabitha Jackson. "Alongside some truly original voices and perspectives on the screen, we’re looking forward to joining filmmakers and an array of industry players for some illuminating conversations about the present and future possibilities of independent cinema. And there’ll be fun of course. And cocktails."
