If the first poster for The Legend Of Tarzan wasn't ape-filled enough for your needs, the marketing team has doubled and tripled down, putting the simians front and centre, but still finding room for the titular vine-swinging, shirt-allergic hero (Alexander Skarsgard) and wife Jane (Margot Robbie), even if the colour scheme does make them look just a little bit like zombies.
Directed by Harry Potter veteran David Yates, this latest take on Tarzan finds our man living in London, settled with his wife and attending the society of the time as a gentleman named John Clayton. But then he hears the call of the wild again – at least via the British government – which sends him back to the Congo ostensibly to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament. Unknowingly, he and his wife are also pawns of a deadly plan for revenge on the part of Belgian Captain Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz). But when he kidnaps Jane so he can manipulate her husband, Rom doesn't realise the power he has unleashed...
We're promised a blend of backstory and lots of the trademark Tarzan action in this one, which also features Samuel L. Jackson, Djimon Hounsou and Jim Broadbent. The Legend Of Tarzan lands in our cinemas on July 8. The most recent trailer can be watched below.
