X-Men Apocalypse

If you thought Professor Xavier (James McAvoy) and the rest had had enough trouble with the space-time continuum in Days Of Future Past, just wait until they get a load of Apocalypse. That's the message in the new X-Men: Apocalypse Super Bowl TV Spot, which is lurking below for your viewing needs (and here with all its other Super Bowl trailer peers).

Setting the clock forward a few years, X-Men: Apocalypse's story finds our heroes split across the world: the Prof is still trying to help mutants blend in with the world, while Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) is on her own crusade to settle matters between humans and mutants in a more violent fashion. Magneto (Michael Fassbender), meanwhile, is opting for a quieter life of love in Poland. At least, that is, until Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) comes a-calling and recruits him...

And the endlessly dangerous mutant is also taking on what has always been known in the comics as his “horsemen”, which in this case includes the young Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Psylocke (Olivia Munn) and Angel (Ben Hardy), who are all in bad circumstances of their own. Apocalypse, who has been in slumber for centuries, decides that the 1980s world is ripe for a reboot.

The TV spot, as is customary for these sorts of things, is quick to stress the epic flavour of the new film, which might even give the last outing a run for its set-piece money. We'll see by how much on May 19 when the movie lands.
