While Peter Jackson and co seem intent on saving a clear look at Smaug for either last-minute trailers or even the release of The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug itself, we are getting little bits and pieces of him, like a sort of dragon jigsaw puzzle. One of his eyes is the, ahem, focus of one of these new book posters, which finds Martin Freeman’s Bilbo face to face with the scaly terror.
Also new today, and dug up by the gang at TheOneRing, is a picture of the dwarves on the world’s least comfortable river cruise from the same series of one-sheets. As we all know, a key moment finds the guys escaping from their enemies in the Barrels out of Bond scene.
From what we’ve seen in production blogs and now this artwork is that we’ll get a good look at the gang as they ride the rapids. And most of them will not be happy about it.
With Freeman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Lee Pace, Manu Bennett, Aidan Turner, Billy Connolly, James Nesbitt, Graham McTavish, Dean O’Gorman and more among the huge cast for this one, The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug arrives on December 13, with The Hobbit: There Are Back Again due on December 19, 2014.
