Just when he thought he was out, they pull him back in! Er… Though not actually a reference to Elton John, this story does concern him. Or, more accurately his planned fantasy CG cartoon Gnomeo And Juliet.
After the film was booted from development at Disney by incoming animation overlord John Lasseter, many assumed that it would simply vanish into the cinematic ether. But nope – Miramax has saved the tale of romance between two families of warring garden ornaments from the compost heap.
"I am very excited about working with Miramax," said John in a statement. "Gnomeo is an edgy concept, and Miramax is the perfect home to push the envelope in animation."
Kate Winslet is attached to lend her lungs to the Juliet role, while Sir Elt and Tim Rice are busy penning new songs to add to a soundtrack that will also contain some classic Elton material. Can you say soundtrack hit in the making?
