Between her day job on TV comedy drama Jane The Virgin and the upcoming release of Annihilation internationally on the service, Gina Rodriguez already has quite the association with Netflix. She's deepening it by agreeing to produce and star in a new romantic comedy called Someone Great.
Jennifer Kaytin Robinson wrote the script and is making her directorial debut with the movie, which also has Paul Feig amongst its producers.
Someone Great will find Rodriguez as a woman who goes through a tough break-up and seeks adventure New York with her best friends before moving across the country to take up a dream job. So it sounds like she does okay despite the end of her relationship. Robinson, who also created the TV series Sweet/Vicious, is aiming to start the cameras rolling in April.
Rodriguez, as mentioned at the top of the page, is part of the cast for Alex Garland's new sci-fi film, which following a cinematic release this past weekend in the States, is arriving on Netflix elsewhere on 12 March. She's also providing a voice for 'toon adventure Smallfoot, due out on 5 October.
