The fact that Rowan Atkinson’s bumbling wannabe superspy **Johnny English **is coming back is now something that we all have to accept. And to further prove it, the Universal/Working Title film has added another name to the cast roster: Gillian Anderson.
Yes, it would seem her love for all things British (a holdover from her days spent living in London as a youngster and her relocation back there post X-Files) has convinced her that what she really, really wants to do next in her career is play MI7 agent Pamela Head.
No doubt a decent wage and the chance to act alongside Atkinson helped, plus the fact that she can exercise her solid UK accent one more time.
Still, we’ve got mixed feelings about Johnny English Reborn, especially given that St Trinians’ Oliver Parker is directing and Mr Bean’s Holiday writer Hamish McColl is behind the script. But we’ll reserve judgement until we see the final product. Which won’t be until next year, since the film doesn’t start shooting until August.
