The X-Men collaboration between writer Matt Nix and director Bryan Singer, The Gifted, has been given the green light to go to series.

The focus is on a family on the run when the parents (played by Stephen Moyer and Amy Acker) discover that their children are mutants. Trying to escape the government, they join up with an underground community of mutants.

Empire has previously reported Nix commenting, "[The comics] have generally started with the X-Men and encountered the world outside from the perspectives of the X-Men. This show flips that on its head, in the sense that it doesn't exclusively take place inside the world of people who are already X-Men and know that world."

Besides Acker playing Kate Stewart and Moyer as Reed Stewart, they'll be joined by Coby Bell as Jace Turner, presumably a member of the government; Jamie Chung as Clarice Ferguson/Blink, who's endowed with the power of teleportation; Emma Dumont as Lorna Dane/Polaris, a daughter of Magneto who has inherited his magnetic abilities; Natalie Alyn Lind as Lauren, daughter of Kate and Reed who discovers that she's a mutant; Blair Redford as Sam, the leader of the underground Mutant network; Sean Teale as Marcos Diaz/Eclipse, who's able to absorb and manipulate photons; Percy Hynes White as Andy, the Stewart's other child.
